The Challenge
Following a great year of consolidation in 2017, Lineage was looking for a security partner to resolve recent expansion issues on its Wisbech site. Lineage recognised the need to move away from internal staff providing security and wanted to instruct a strategic security partner who could ensure best practice on site.
GMS is an SIA accredited national security provider with significant experience in the logistics sector. Having a proven track record developing longstanding relationships with well-known blue-chip organisations gave Lineage confidence when making GMS their permanent security partner.
The Solution
GMS were appointed to provide Lineage’s with a professional, highly trained manned guarding service. This enabled Lineage staff to focus on their core roles while ensuring a high level of security for the site.
GMS undertook a thorough assessment and an in-depth review of existing procedures. It is from this base that GMS are able to provide the strategic and operational advice that often gets missed from firms coming in and ‘simply doing security’. Following the assessment and review, GMS was able to identify the need for an improved system for dispatching loads at the Wisbech site.
GMS worked with Lineage’s site manager to customise GOSYS, GMS’s internal operation management system to fulfil client requirements to ensure a fully auditable and demonstrable system of guaranteed food safety on arrival at a client site.
GOSYS utilises Near Field Technology to enable the remote monitoring of security officers in real time. The customised solution enables staff to upload and send time and date stamped photographic confirmation of secure loads prior to their dispatch. Only when verified internally, can the vehicles now leave site.
This solution was designed and implemented within a short time frame and fitted seamlessly with Lineage internal processes enabling them to have a complete, accurate and real-time overview of their logistics chain.
Benefits
Lineage are now able to guarantee the safety of the food leaving their depot until it reaches a customer site.
Since implementing this solution in 2017 there have been no incidents relating to the security of the vehicles which has reduced customer complaints and saved Lineage from extensive fines.
